The Chelmsfordians Tennis Club is
affiliated to the Old Chelmsfordians Association. We have 3 all weather
'carpet' courts and enjoy tennis all year round.
We are a relatively small but
friendly club, which welcomes players of all ages and abilities. We currently
have around 90 adult and 45 junior members. Non-members are welcome to join our
coaching programme and pay an additional fee. Over 100 youngsters take part
each week in our range of coaching squads.
Our resident coach organises
regular weekly junior and mini-tennis sessions during term time with 'crash'
courses during Easter and Summer holidays. Adult group sessions are also
available, including ladies only mornings and individual coaching by
arrangement.
Social evenings run throughout
the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30pm. Prospective members are welcome
to turn up and give us a try, or better still, contact our membership Secretary
first, who will be pleased to meet you at the Club and show you the facilities.
Men's doubles are played on
Saturday mornings between 8-10am. The first Sunday of every month is an
organised open social from 10.30am and Ladies have their own Sunday special on
the third Sunday of every month. A junior Club runs every Friday during term
time from 4.30-5.45pm.
Our teams are entered into local
Mid-Essex leagues for both summer and winter seasons. We currently run 2 Mens,
1 Ladies, 1 Mixed and 1 Mens Vets. Junior teams are also entered in the Essex
LTA Saturday morning leagues. Club Championships are held every summer at adult
and junior level. Several other mini-tournaments are also held throughout the
year. A singles box-league competition is in operation.
Administration and organisation
is carried out by a commitee, elected at our Annual General Meeting, held in
November. They are responsible for the day to day running of the Club, it's
finances, recruitment and advertising, social functions and competitions.
